In homage to one of my favorite artists Felix Gonzalez-Torres I keep coming back to this photograph. This is more what I learned about patrick then a second image of him. That I couldn't capture how he had changed for me. His online persona was very honest and very him. Though he is very attractive and I really wanted to capture that in the second photograph too, when I talked about this blind photo date what I ended up talking about was that we talked for almost 4 hours sitting on his bed. We talked about the state of the world, ideas on the self, American politics, music, art, where we grew up (which happend to be the same weird nj town, west milford), and what we wanted to accomplish with our lives. This picture, devoid of his image I kinda felt got him more than any of the pics I shot at the end. |
